NGS Novice C Braves win A title in Carleton Place

The NGS Novice C Braves were the champions at a tournament hosted by the Carleton Place Kings on December 27.

The visiting Braves defeated the host Kings in the final game of the day by a 2-1 score. After falling behind 1-0 just under three minutes into the match, NGS scored 25 seconds later to knot the score at 1-1. Payton Leger scored from Alex Matta. Matta then scored the game-winner early in the third period assisted by Leger to secure the championship. Quinn Anderson was named the hardest worker of the game for NGS.

“It was a back-and-forth game, with good chances and big saves by both teams,” said head coach Kevin Anderson.

The Braves opened the tournament with a one-sided 11-0 victory over the Richmond Royals. Izaiha Labelle recorded the shutout with Cameron Sieber securing the hardest worker award in the win.

In their second game against the West Carleton Warriors, NGS won a nail-biter 1-0. Labelle recorded his second-straight shutout while Theo Manson was named the game’s hardest worker after scoring the only goal of the match.
